Using a Hard Surface Steam Cleaner When you Have Pets

Keeping your home clean when you have pets can be a particular challenge. Not only do they make a lot of mess, but you don’t want to use dangerous chemicals where they may end up licking them up or otherwise coming into contact with them. Using a portable steam cleaner for your hard surfaces can help keep your home looking as clean as it was before you had any animals living with you, while avoiding the use of cleaning solutions.

A steam mop, or the floor attachments on a portable device, does a great job at getting up hair off your floors. They usually have microfiber pads on the bottom that do a great job of collecting them, that with the hot moisture coming out of the machine makes sure that all the hair gets picked up. These pads are reusable, too, so you won’t need to keep buying new supplies to keep your floors clean.

If your pet spends a lot of time in the windows there is a squeegee attachment on most units that make cleaning windows and mirrors a lot easier. This is one area that with traditional methods is hard to really get clean without chemicals, and the steam cleaner makes that possible—which is great for the dog that sticks their nose against the window.

Your pets kennel, or carrier, can get very dirty over time. With pet hair, mud from outside, and other build up this area can be a real chore. With the detail brushes and other attachments it can get a little bit easier, though. This is one area where I really hate to use any chemicals because the animals will be spending a lot of time here, but you need to do a lot of cleaning, so having a machine can be a real relief.

In all of these ways and more using a hard surface steam cleaner when you have pets can be a real convenient way to make sure your house stays clean, and your pets stay safe.

More About Dog Potty Training – Picking The Ideal Crate For Your Dog

Today, there are a lot of unique dog cages to pick from and you need to select one that’s ideal for your pet. One major factor is the size of the kennel compared to the size of your dog. You wouldn’t like it to end up being so little that your pet can barely move around, however, you don’t want it to be too large either. The right size is one that allows your puppy to stretch out and has more than enough head room to fully stand up and turn around in, but one that’s still comfortable for your puppy.

If your pet dog is a puppy, you might have to think about purchasing a small crate for now and a bigger one when he grows to full size. Even better, try to look for a kennel with a divider. That allows you to make it bigger as your canine grows up. In addition to sizing, there are a variety of different items currently available.

Hard plastic models are popular and also a design which is essential for airline travel. Plastic types are usually plastic on the sides, bottom, and top, with a metal door on the front side. This is generally the kind which the commercial airline requires, and most likely what you would utilize for automobile traveling because they are the most protective for your pet should a collision or rough roads occur. They might be a bit secluded because the hard plastic on the top and sides does not leave a lot of space for your pet to look out. Then again, your canine may like this since it offers a very personal home. They’re great for dog training.

Metal and wire crates tend to be the styles which are employed in boarding kennels. You may also see them at canine events. They’re simply wire all around and they most often have a plastic-type tray that you insert so your pet isn’t standing on the wire which could really injure his / her feet. Wire models present an advantage since your pet is able to see out the roof and all sides. You can find very good crate covers which will offer a more private den. In case your budget doesn’t allow a cover, you can cover the cage using a blanket or towel. Wire cages can be much easier to clean out too. Simply slide out the pan on the floor for washing. A wire crate is designed for dog crate training.

Soft crates are wonderful for those who spend a lot of time outside, and if you want to bring your canine friend to the store, the veterinarian, or perhaps a visit to the park or beach. Soft models are not recommended for flying and I do not think too many of them would be authorized by the airlines anyway. Also, they are not good to use as a standing kennel at home since they are so flexible. They are generally made from some sort of nylon fabric with zippers on top and also a front zippered “entrance” which you can use to take your dog in and out. They are really wonderful improvements to the crate family for those who have a well trained canine, but are not advised for initial training, especially for puppies that love to chew.

    Pet Boarding Tips

It is difficult at times to part with our pets and place them in pet boarding.  Deciding on the proper location that will leave you with peace of mind and your pet having a great experience can be a challenge.  Here are the some tips for you to consider, when making a decision of location, that your pet will receive great care..

Ask your Vet, dog groomer or friends if they have a referral or reference.  If you do use the Internet, research as much information as you can, including a Google search for the business and the owners name.

When you contact potential pet boarders, ask them how much experience have they had and can they provide references. Ask if there are rules on nutured or unspayed dogs. Ask if they are flexible on drop off and pick up times and can you call and find out about your pet during their stay.  Follow through and check that the references are valid and you are comfortable with the next step.

There is nothing like an in person visit.  Make an appointment and go in person to check out the facilities your pet may be staying at. Ask for a tour, including where your pet will be spending most of the time at their facilities.

The boarding location should be clean, free of odors, fecal deposits and bug free. Check that they observe safety and the location is free of toxins and toxic chemicals.  Is there adequate air ventilation and is someone always on the premise. Note if they use kennels, the size and if it is an appropriate size for your pet to move about freely.

If your pet will be going outside, ask about security and if the property is fully fenced. If your dog has behaviors of climbing or digging, inform them upfront, so they are aware of any potential issues and how they can address them.

It is important that someone is routinely checking on your pet and en quire about the schedule and how often your pet is walked, and given time outdoors. If your dog has special needs, such as medications, ask how it will be accommodated and when will your dog be fed.

It may be time consuming but researching is important.  Ask lots of questions and do not assume things will be done. A good pet boarding service should respond positively at your questions and be informative.  It’s important that you are comfortable with them and the location, to have peace of mind when your pet is staying with them.
